The deadline for entries to the Media Innovation Awards has been extended to allow businesses more time to get their entries together.
The new deadline of Wednesday January 10 has been set following pleas by a number of firms in the creative industries sector that the deadline was too difficult to meet with the Christmas break taking up precious preparation time.
Karen Stockdale of Plymouth Media Partnership, one of the organisers of the awards, said “We wanted to be fair to those people who were away over Christmas and New Year so we have decided to extend the entry deadline by another week to close on Wednesday 10th January.
“We hope this will enable all our innovative companies and individuals to enter the awards. In particular we are really keen to see more entries in the CD, Mobile and Film categories.
“We would also like to see more entries from practitioners in Cornwall because of the 50 entries that we’ve had so far, 90% of them come from companies in Devon. We know that there is lots of innovative work being done in Cornwall and we want to see it.”
As well as the practitioners any business that has commissioned work from members of Plymouth Media-Partnership and Cornwall Media Focus is also being encouraged to enter their projects into the awards.
